Bold REVIEW (Blackberry 9700)

This is my new assistant the Blackberry Bold 9700 dubbed as the ONYX, I got this unit free from Globe as a loyalty reward for being a long time customer, however requiring me to extend my contract with them for another 2 years. But that is totally fine with me, because along with my plan is a bundled package for unlimited call and text to globe, a few minutes to call and text other network and the 160mb for data I could use for my Blackberry phone to push important emails to my phone (it's not unlimited, but who cares I have wifi at home and I only use it when I'm on the road, to make sure I don't miss hubby's emails and my  important work related updates!)

It was love at first time, the moment I laid my eyes on my bb after opening the package from Air21one rainy afternoon. I know that it's the start of something big for me and my new phone, I wondered why I didn't get this phone any sooner, by the way, Globe was bugging me with this "reward" since July 2009 when my contract expired with them. It was a beauty!

The more I use it and discovered the applications, such as push emails, The display looks great. It's crystal clear and very crisp. With a resolution of 480 by 360, it's more than enough to let you watch your favorite movies or videos on the Bold 9700. Blackberry World Applications, which let's us download free/paid software directly to our phone. It's like the apple store for the iphone. The BB Bold 9700 offers a variety of apps which really come in handy. I say that I'm impressed with the various apps available, especially the facebook and twitter apps, and even yahoo messenger do their jobs well, you can even post your blog directly from it. And of course BBM (blackberry messaging) I've come to appreciate it more and more....So far, I don't discover any downsides at all. I had a couple of smartphones before such as the BenQ P50, which was by the way a big disappointment, with issues with the OS, battery life and camera. My new Bold exceeded my expectations!

This is blackberry people! It has the apps people NEED and none of the random shit that serves no real purpose (lightsaber, guns, tower defense games). These phones are for people that use them for work. Work that they need to be thinking about 24/7 because it is their life. My friend works at bloomberg in NYC, and in his interview, they asked what kind of phone he had. When he replied that he owns a blackberry, the interviewer said "Oh good, the phone for people who actually have a Job." I didn't need an iPhone or a Galaxy nor a droid... I need my badass BlackBerry to get me to the net better, better manage my pictures and music but still deliver the world's best as my business phone and email console. Other kids will keep their iPhones ... good for them but when they graduate college and move into the business world, they also will get a BlackBerry from their first company.

I’m a proud owner of RIM’s latest device to date, but not for long because tomorrow August 12, 2010 will be the release of the BB Torch and launching of OS 6.

Weekends....

Weekends are always fun, majority looks forward for the weekends to come. By the way,  I never had weekends off for four consecutive weeks now, but today is the last day of work for me, oh! let me mention that my shift actually changes every week. Which I think is not good because there is a good chance of missing a schedule if you are not careful. Well, moving on, my shift this week since first day started 10pm and ends at 8am. I'm so into the weekend mood, when I woke up at 4pm earlier, watched a little talk shows and showbiz buzz on TV.
It was indeed a lazy Saturday afternoon, I went up to my room to check  my Facebook and chatted with some friends, it was past 6pm that I went down to cook for dinner. We usually have dinner early. But again, it is the weekend so I was dragging myself.
At 8pm I was glued to the sofa, watching Claudine Barreto and Mark Anthony's episode in Claudine's show. I remembered leaving my phone in my room, but didn't bother to get it, since I'm not really expecting a call...hubby had called already earlier, telling me he might not be able to call nor have access to the net for the next 10 or 12 days. I went ahead to my room, where my phone and laptop were. Only to find out, that I missed 5 calls already, the number was unregistered, so I got curious. I found out when I opened my computer that it was a call from my team mate, Jeng, she was trying to reach me to remind me of my shift, I am supposed to be her reliever....
So I logged in right away, and found out that I was late for more than an hour.  My TL actually made changes and switched it to 8pm instead of 10pm the time she plotted my schedules... which I find really odd, I was thinking that my shift changes weekly, but not. Normally, I would be happy to be given more time to work because it means, more work load equals more money, however not this time.
I was hating myself for being so careless...There's never an excuse for my carelessness and in the kind of work I do, there's no excuse for being tardy. I immediately logged in, explained my story to my boss. I am just glad that I am not tagged late, because Jeng my team mate extended a few hours and covered for me, which I am grateful! With what happened, I made a mental note to always check my schedule, I have the access to it all the time. I can even access it in my phone. It would be really stupid to miss work because I overlooked the schedules plotted!

A BlackBerry With A Touch Screen And A Slide-Out Keyboard?

YES! The word is out, RIM is releasing world’s first smartphone with a BlackBerry® keyboard and full touch screen – the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800. The Blackberry Torch 9800 will be the first RIM device to run the Blackberry 6 operating system, so expect faster Web browsing and downloads. It will also feature virtual and slide-out keyboards,  a 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera and 512MB of RAM. BlackBerry 6 has the new universal search and auto-wrap text zoom features. The next-generation Blackberry and possibly a new tablet computer to go head-to-head with iPhone and iPad. It’s like the Pepsi-Coca Cola wars all over again.

With the new BlackBerry Torch smartphone, RIM have combined touch-qwerty experience available, seamlessly incorporating signature BlackBerry keyboard and precision trackpad in a striking design that simply feels great in your hand. One of the things I love the most about the BlackBerry Torch design is the way it allows user to easily transition between using the touch screen, trackpad and keyboard interfaces. Very handy indeed!

The BlackBerry Torch is also the first BlackBerry smartphone to ship with the new web browser - a WebKit-based browser that can operate quickly, beautifully and efficiently. Courtesy of BlackBerry 6 OS, the BlackBerry Torch receives a range of key upgrades in the software department. A new full HTML Webkit browser offers tabbed browsing for accessing multiple web pages at the same time, and the browser supports the popular pinch-to-zoom multi-touch gesture. BlackBerry 6 also gives users a single view for social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Furthermore, a next-generation messaging experience includes group messaging for up to 10 people and locations, while a new universal search is available throughout the BlackBerry experience.

BlackBerry 6 is scheduled to be first introduced to the market with the BlackBerry Torch on August 12, and BlackBerry 6 will be available in the months ahead (pending carrier certifications) on some of our leading smartphones, including the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 3G 9100, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9650 and BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700.

RIM indeed have a long history of building groundbreaking technology, each day, thousands of RIM employees are focused on enhancing softwares, services and smartphones in order to continue meeting our changing wants and needs. The launch of the BlackBerry Torch with BlackBerry 6 is one of the most significant launches in history and this amazing new smartphone brings together many of RIM’s core strengths into one fluid and superior user experience.

My Funny PAL

Today, my hubby who is currently in Churchill Canada, got the chance to linger on the web for awhile (this is not so normal, because they don't stay in one place longer than 1 day) Though he had a Facebook account for over a year, he only use it for Playing Texas Hold em Poker! Today, he got the chance to update his Facebook account, uploaded recent photos, replied his long overdue emails and chance upon updating his status and commented his friend's WALLs.
My shout out for the day, "PAL used to be teased as Plane Always Late; now it's Pilots Are Lacking" alot of my friends found the post humorous, but my hubby commented "daghan na available na pilots sa PAL diay so pwede na maka apply mga coconut pilot sa matu-og hehhe" (there would be plenty of position for pilots on PAL so, coconut pilots from Matu-og can apply hehehe) My husband indeed had a great sense of humor and a real genius with wisecracks like this.
Both of us burst out in laughter with his comments, simple remarks as such, and we know we will remember for quite awhile afterwards. He is really the Genius of Humor!

my First...

This happens to be my first official entry...I love to express my ideas & myself, I've always wanted to do this, to start blog and keep a journal for myself and for the world to check out, I don't know why I never seemed to find time and guts to finally do this... I guess I am too coward that I will be ineffective;  that no one might react to my statements despite spending much tought & formulating my blogs.

Hell, I'm starting this thing anyway...this is a private, personal sharings of how I live my life raising my baby alone, while my husband works far far away from home.

There's always a first time for everything and this is it for ME
